In the master class session organized by Safalta.com on the topic of "Skills and Competencies for 21st Century" Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director of Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) said that the time between 1995 and 2008 was the golden period because engineering education or management education was rapidly expanding in the country. Due to the economic reforms taking place in 1991, industries and businesses were proliferating in India, due to which there was a need for people, engineers, and managers. Due to good demand, engineering colleges started opening. Before 1995, there were engineering colleges only in South India and Maharashtra. Later, it started moving towards North India. Uttar Pradesh was ahead of North India. Engineering colleges also started opening in Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab.

After 2010, Private Universities also came. Private Universities created a crisis for small colleges. During the Global Economic Shutdown of 2008, when jobs started decreasing, the M.Ba institutes which were not of good quality and could not provide placements, started closing down.

In our country, people are very worried about government jobs because they feel that government jobs are stable, and they get pensions, but those who have talent should also look at the options of the private sector. There are good and bad organizations in the private sector, similarly in the government sector there are also public sector units and loss-making ones like BSNL were there once, and now it is not like that.

If you want to learn, and your learning curve is good, and you have curiosity, then you will keep progressing and remain a lifelong learner. Yuval Noah Harari whose book has been published in many languages and has been read by millions of people. He has written many other books and also wrote a book on the 21st century that is 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, One line he has said is that skills are there that can be useful in the future. You guys read books and gain knowledge, stay updated with time. In today's time, the knowledge we have keeps getting updated.

Q:- Students, Youths, or People who are looking for jobs, are not living in the same era, be it in the 20th century or 21st century, they all have different tendencies to learn, for some technology is easily acquired. If it is very difficult for someone, then how can we teach 21st-century skills to those students who are living in different centuries? And will the business world of the 21st century be more fair or troublesome than previous businesses?

Ans:-
According to me, first you become a self-learner and use the smartphones which are there today, if there were libraries, we would search for books. The smartphones available today are like superfast computers. The facilities which were there 30 years ago and used to cost crores of rupees are now available in smartphones, They also give you trending information about the world and can also mislead you on the wrong path. First, you should be able to know the difference between right and wrong, second, you should also have critical thinking, and third, when choosing a career, do not count the crowd as to which way the crowd is going. When you take admission, consider your capacity and how many jobs you are getting in that field.

According to scientists or economists, they are saying that with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, the productivity of the world will increase, efficiency will increase, and cures for diseases will also be found. The cost of their treatment can also be reduced. There are routine jobs that may reduce by 80-90% in the next 5 years like clerical jobs. Post office jobs may end. Because earlier letters used to come, communication is done only through phones today. This is a prediction for the times to come, AI will give power to people but inequalities, and deep fakes will also increase and misuse will also occur. Ai is boom but at the same time, it will occur.

Q:- What are intangible skills, which we cannot see like brand identity, and tangible skills in today's time, and how can youth maintain them?

Ans:-
The literal difference is clear, one product is tangible, and you have a mobile in your hand, that is tangible. There is an idea in your mind whose value can be in billions, it is intangible. Aside from this, Yuval Noah Harari, a history professor at Tel Aviv University in Israel, has a lot to teach pupils. His most recent book, Sapiens, has made waves around the globe. 21 Lessons for the 21st Century is another one of his books that is highly pertinent for young people. Children should read these two books. He is the only source of reliable and accurate information regarding the youth's future. He stated that three qualities—curiosity, becoming a lifelong learner, and perseverance—are critical for youth's success in the future. Since obtaining a degree will not be beneficial in the next five years. These days, information ages every three years. Because of the state of the market, new technologies and talents are constantly being developed.
