Asha Bhosle, the iconic playback singer, has been chosen to win the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Award. The decision to bestow the state's highest honor on the 87-year-old singer was made at a meeting of the award selection committee on March 25, 2021. Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra's Chief Minister, presided over the conference. To express her gratitude for the honor, the veteran singer took to Twitter to thank the people of Maharashtra for bestowing on her the highest level of honor the state can bestow on an individual: the Maharashtra Bhushan Award.

- Asha Bhosle is a legendary playback singer who was born on September 8, 1933 and is best known for her work in Hindi cinema. She does, however, have a wide repertoire.
